Overview

Dr. Nadya Nakova is a radiation oncologist with over 10 years of experience. She graduated from Medical University of Sofia in 2013, and in 2019 she became  a certified  specialist  in Radiation Oncology.

Between 2014  and 2021, Dr. Nakova worked at the Radiotherapy Clinic of the University Hospital “Queen Giovanna” ISUL, where she worked as an assistant and participated in a number of scientific projects at the Medical University of Sofia.

She obtained a second master’s degree in Health Management in 2018.

In  2021 she  became part of the Department of Radiation Oncology and Radiosurgery Center at the University Hospital “St. Ivan Rilski” Sofia, where she performs radiotherapy for all common cancer sites as well as cranial and extracranial radiosurgery.

Since 2024, she has been a PhD student at the Institute of Neurobiology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and an assistant professor in radiotherapy at the Faculty of Medicine of Sofia University.

 Dr. Nakova’s areas of scientific interest are in the field of:

  • Head and neck tumors: Concomitant chemo-radiotherapy in organ-preserving treatment or in advanced tumors.
  • Breast cancer: Radiation therapy after organ-preserving surgery, mastectomy or after breast implant or expander placement.
  • Rectal carcinomas pre- and post-operatively, chemo-radiotherapy.
  • Radiation therapy of oncohematologic malignancies 
  • Cranial and extracranial radiosurgery
  • Palliative radiotherapy
  • Radiotherapy of rare and benign tumors

Fluent in: German, English and Russian

Dr. Nakova is a member of the Association of Radiation Therapists in Bulgaria; Bulgarian Radiosurgical Society (BRD); European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO); European Society of Radiotherapy (ESTRO).
