Assoc. Prof. Minchev performs numerous rare surgeries for patients with diseases of the lungs and chest. He applies new and innovative surgical treatment methods, some of which are unique not only in Bulgaria but also on a global scale. He is advancing minimally invasive techniques in thoracic surgery, including thoracoscopic and mediastinoscopic interventions. He works in multidisciplinary surgical teams on complex surgeries alongside cardiothoracic surgeons, abdominal surgeons, plastic surgeons, and ENT specialists, as well as interventional gastroenterologists.

Assoc. Prof. Tzvetan Minchev graduated from the Medical University of Sofia in 1989. He obtained a specialization in General Surgery in 1996 and a specialization in Thoracic Surgery in 2000.

In 2002, he completed a qualification course in Video Thoracoscopic and Mediastinoscopic Surgery at the Medical University of Sofia. In 2006, he earned a certificate in Bronchoscopy after training at the Specialized Hospital for Lung Diseases St. Sofia. He has undergone specialization in a VATS Master Class for video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery in Istanbul, Turkey, under the guidance of Diego Gonzalez and Alper Toker, as well as a course in advanced video-assisted mediastinoscopy in Timișoara, Romania. He has completed numerous additional qualification courses.

In 2019, he became certified to work with the Da Vinci surgical platform in Thoracic Surgery in Atlanta, USA.

Assoc. Prof. Minchev is the first Bulgarian surgeon certified in robotic surgery in the field of Thoracic Surgery.
